Biocon (up 2.49%), Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (up 2.48%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (up 2.12%), Ranbaxy Laboratories (up 1.51%), Ipca Laboratories (up 1.39%), Divis Laboratories (up 1.14%), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (up 1.05%), Piramal Healthcare (up 0.65%), Cipla (up 0.51%), Aurobindo Pharma (up 0.45%), Lupin (up 0.07%) and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals (up 0.03%), edged higher.

The BSE Healthcare index was up 1.19% at 7,079.25. It outperformed the Sensex, which was up 0.21% at 17,139.53.

The BSE Healthcare index hit a record high of 7,105.12 in intraday today, 17 July 2012. The index had outperformed the market over the past one month until 16 July 2012, gaining 6.32% compared with the Sensex’s 0.91% rise. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, gaining 4.50% as against 0.28% fall in the Sensex.
